posted forPoetics today 10/8/11 by Brian Miller at dVersepoets - theme: Bumper Sticker
Staying with the 5/7/5 in the spirit of bumper messages! This was actually a license plate!
Hot blonde, dark glasses
Thirtyish in red mercedes
On bumper: AMENDS
Thought husband cheated
Later remembered Joplin’s
“I must make amends”.
For some reason this stuck with me. Hope you enjoy — as you see I’m still stuck in 5/7/5!

I think 5-7-5 is a wondrous place to be stuck! The poem is fun and the red MB isn’t bad either…although, I probably couldn’t get out of it now!
I’d take that car any day. With or without bumper stickers!
whoops…by the time you figure out that back story you are in far too deep…smiles. nice gay
Nice 5/7/5 I wouldn’t mind the car either!
I love that song and your take on the prompt!
I love how these connect
Very nice. (We all should. Make amends.) Thanks.
haha – great play on the song gay…and nice german car…smiles
I can hear the song now! Nice treatment in the form. Now we’ll have to try 5-7-5 in 12 bar blues….
5/7/5 is a comfortable place to be stuck. This is wonderful fun and well written.

Maybe last line of second should be – “friends all drive Porsches” ???
I enjoyed this and sorry to say I am old enough to remember the crazy lady Janis Joplin and and her music…things keep up I may become her just to
scare a few people off… AMEND ..LOVE IT seeking my serenity to return, or I could become her… a one sided amend ..er as usual.
fun Haikus,
love your take, beautiful humor.
It would’ve been nice to hear the whole story, though I suppose it’s an easy one to figure out. Definitely a sassy sticker to say the least.
mmm…what’s a hot blonde doing being married?
torturing the rest of the world?
I’m immediately taken by the sensualness of this…good job.
plugging Jopin is good…wonder if she ever got her Mercedes?
thanks for sharing.
I don’t know the song, so I don’t know how to comment. But I’m sure you did the song justice
impressive ones, very well done.
I wouldn’t say stuck…
you flourish in 5/7/5
oh amend indeed
Excellent illustration, beautifully done!
Short Poems
amazing.
Nice. And I remember that JJ song too…
I can hear her in my head now. Wish I was one of those “friends”.
Very clever take on the prompt… enjoyed this!
Nice work!
Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porches,
I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime,
no help from my friends.
So Lord, won’t you buy me
a Mercedes Benz.
Oh, Lord, won’t you buy me
a color T.V.?
Dialing for Dollars is trying to find me.
I’ll wait for delivery
each day until three
So, Lord, won’t you buy me
a color T.V.?
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me
a night on the town?
I’m counting on you Lord,
please don’t let me down.
Prove that you love me
and buy the next round.
Oh Lord won’t you buy me
a night on the town………..
Awesome Poem!!!! Janis was beautiful…… Mercedes Benz
Very cute. I agree with Victoria that 5-7-5 not a bad place to be stuck. Or the 60s. K.
